Hey there, folks! The holiday season is just around the corner, and what better way to get into the festive spirit than with a timeless classic brought to life on stage? Today, we’re pleased to visit with Kristina Cannon, Marketing Manager at the highly popular Tuacahn Center for the Arts in Ivins, Utah. She’s sharing her insights about the upcoming production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, opening on November 24th and running until December 22nd. Front Row Reviewers is excited to share her thoughts to help us discover all the enchanting details about this holiday extravaganza.

FRR: Now, let’s dive into the magic of this production. Kristina, could you give us the most creative way to summarize the plot of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas?

Kristina Cannon: “The timeless movie White Christmas is adapted for the stage in a lavish production that the New York Times says to ‘put on your wish list.’ Irving Berlin’s White Christmas tells the story of a military veteran song-and-dance team putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn and falling head-over-heels for a stunning sister act in the process. This merry and bright holiday musical is full of dancing, laughter, and features Irving Berlin songs and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Be whisked away as Tuacahn’s Hafen Indoor Theatre transforms into a winter wonderland.”

FRR: Now, that’s a plot that will surely warm our hearts during the holiday season! But let’s not forget the bigger picture. What is the mission of Tuacahn Center for the Arts?

Kristina Cannon: “Tuacahn edifies and inspires the human spirit through professional world-class family entertainment and an unparalleled artistic and educational experience that matches the majesty of our canyon.”

FRR: That’s a beautiful mission dedicated to spreading joy and artistry. Can you share with us how and when Tuacahn Center for the Arts first opened its doors?

Kristina Cannon: “It was 1995 when Tuacahn’s debut performance of Utah! danced its way out of the red rocks and into the hearts of the people of southern Utah. After four years telling the complex story of the area’s ancient inhabitants and pioneer settlers, it became increasingly clear Tuacahn needed to shift its strategy. The answer came in 1999 in the form of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Tuacahn found itself in the enviable position of huge crowds and sold-out houses, and “Broadway in the Canyon” was born.

Since that time, Tuacahn has produced more than 60 Broadway shows, taking full advantage of the theater’s outdoor space and making talent, directorial, and technical strides year after year.”

FRR: It’s incredible to see how Tuacahn has evolved over the years to become a hub of world-class entertainment. As we gear up for the holiday season, it’s clear that Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at Tuacahn Center for the Arts promises to be a heartwarming and unforgettable experience. So, mark your calendars, get your tickets, and prepare to be transported to a winter wonderland filled with laughter, music, and the magic of the season. Thank you, Kristina Cannon, for giving us a glimpse behind the scenes of this incredible production. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the holiday magic!
