If you are looking for a spooky date or activity this year, go see The Addams Family at Beverly’s Terrace Plaza Playhouse in Ogden, Utah. Beverly’s Terrace Plaza Playhouse is a family friendly community theatre that always has enjoyable productions to attend and enjoy. With this Halloween production being such high caliber, you will leave wanting to return and see the show multiple times. Carol Madsen fantastically directs this spooky show that will kick off or continue your Halloween season with perfection.

The show begins with Uncle Fester (David Hales/David Storm) telling the Ancestors they cannot go back into their crypt unless love prevails between Wednesday Addams (Livy Alvey/ Arianna Evans) and Lucas (Gage Reese/Trey Cornell). With Fester’s far-fetched demand, the entire comedy filled production ensues and only gets more comedic when Pugsley (Jacob Tousley/Amauree Mack) decides he is not ready for his sister to leave him alone and does something drastic to try to stop things.

The entire cast are all insanely talented, and their movement  around the stage propels the show to its funny heights. Every character has such depth that it makes you want to see both casts.

Madsen’s casting choices are phenomenal and you will agree when you hear the way every character’s voice rings through the performance hall and blends together perfectly. These actors have honed their characters to perfection, under the direction of Madsen’s deft direction.

Choreographer Ginny Spencer brilliantly creates a wonderful piece when the ancestors aid in Gomez’s (Nicholas Balaich/ Nathan Sachs) song “Trapped” by using a long rope and using it to wrap him and do tug a war. Gomez’s predicament is obvious and hililarious. Spencer also has the ancestors use a variety of  levels, givng audience members an enjoyable tablue.

Music Director Lindy Combe leads a stellar cast.  I loved how Morticia’s (Annie Ferrin/Natalie Peterson) and Alice’s (Jamie Balaich/Jana Plowman) voices blend and pair together so nicely in the song “Keep No Secrets”.

Costumers Stephanie Petersen, Jim Tatton, Tami Richardson, and Kinsie Behr all have wonderfully creates masterpieces, especially with the ancestor costumes that range from modern day, to the roaring 20s, all the way to the French Revolution. I love how diverse it is; the  ballerina was my favorite.

Lighting Designer Miland Palmer creates the lighting to spotlight the various emotions of the show and to add extra oomph to when Wednesday electrocute Pugsley. The actors are all we can see so when the electrocutions  occurs, the super bright lights pulsates like electricity would feel. Set Designers Nathan Fawcett and Jace Fawcett outdid themselves with a set that is beautiful, spooky, and remarkably detailed.

Sound Designer Emma Palmer does quality work ensuring sound levels are nicely balanced throughout the show. This can be difficult except for the most professional of shows, so the music does not over power the microphones and vice versa was, pun intended, music to my ears. Beverly’s Terrace Plaza Playhouse is a small community gem in Ogden, Utah, affordable so anyone can go see their performances and get away from the outside world for a few hours.
