After a rainy weekend, I started my week by seeing one of my favorite music artists, morgxn, at Kilby Court on his first headlining tour of his career, starting in Salt Lake City. All of his music is full of so much emotion that you can feel its electricity through the entire room. One of my favorite things about live music is that you can connect with so many people at once and that was definitely the case in this performance.
The show opened with a band called Broman Kelby, who warmed the crowd up with their intense energy. I especially enjoyed their strong guitar melodies and vocals. Their music had the whole room dancing.
Kilby Court has a very intimate and unique feeling as a venue, which makes their concerts exceptionally enjoyable. Throughout the show, morgxn connected deeply with the audience through not only his music, but through sharing his own heartfelt experiences. All of his songs are about self-discovery, acceptance, and coping with hard circumstances that we all can face.
A song that stuck out to me was “Home”, because the entire crowd sang it with morgxn at the top of their lungs, including me. Morgxn’s vocals were flawless, and his runs sound completely effortless as he sang through songs like “Carry the Weight” and “Me Without You” (both of which I shed a couple tears through.)
Overall, this concert was the most emotionally healing one I’ve ever been to. Morgxn connects to people in a way that most artists can’t; he’s completely honest about his emotions and completely unique as far as his style, his holographic nails, and vibrant personality. Catch him on his first headlining tour this fall!
