Ever wished you could step inside a video game and go on an adventure? Now you can! Evermore Park is an immersive living theatrical experience park located in Pleasant Grove, UT, minutes from I-15. While still partially under construction, the 11-acre park is filled with beautiful architecture, stunning landscapes, and a variety of vibrant characters. The park will have three separate seasonal themes, Lore is the current production, a haunted, Halloween theme, Aurora will be coming this winter with a Dickensian theme, and then Mythos from Norse mythology next summer celebrates the coming of light with a lantern festival.

Walking into the park is like walking onto a large scale film set, an authentic European Gothic style village sprawls out before you covered with beautifully carved Jack-o-lanterns. The architecture is really quite spectacular; there are several antique pieces dating back as far as 900 A.D.! The meticulous attention paid to every detail creates an authentic, high quality impression. My favorite space is the tavern, which feels cozy with lots of tables and chairs for patrons to relax in, or play a round of chess, and the massive fireplace creates an amazing ambience of comfort and energy. While behind the bar there is a host of bottles propped out, unfortunately they do not serve any food or drinks here. I’m not sure if there are any plans to change that in the future, but I would love to experience that.

The costume and make up design are also remarkable, ranging from Victorian to medieval to steampunk to fantasy creatures. The goblins and the creatures up by the graveyard are especially well done, the prosthetics are very realistic. Each of the actors has beautiful, authentic looking costumes and flawlessly applied stage make-up. The animatronics are also high quality and bring a lot to the authenticity of the experience.

The entire park is vibrant and alive, inviting you to wander down pathways to various narratives played out by the park’s many actors and eventually to the main town center set up festival style with beautifully decorated tents. Here there are also activities you can participate in, such as ax-throwing and archery, or you can have your fortune read by one of the soothsayers. There is also a bevy of characters with whom you can, and definitely should, converse. Keep your ears open for special quests and adventures you can go on if you have the right conversation with the right person. Plus it is way more fun to allow yourself to become completely immersed in the experience, so don’t be shy, strike up a conversation with the characters. You never know where it might take you. I admit, when I arrived, I wasn’t really sure what to do, so let me encourage you, jump in as soon as you get there. This is the point of Evermore—to invite you into this world.

Do not miss the fire dancers that perform on the stage at city hall. They are incredible. I knew fire breathing and eating were a thing, but fire dancing? I had no clue, and I will never be the same. The extremely talented group of performers took my breath away with the grace and fluidity of their movements and the stunning visuals.

While the park is unfinished in some areas, there are gated sections that are still under construction, there is so much potential here. The moment you step into the park you are transported to a different world, one where you can role play alongside the group of talented actors. Most of the pathways are still dirt, so be sure to wear proper shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. The website distinguishes there being two separate shows each night, the early show The Magical World of Lore is targeted toward families while the later show which begins after nightfall The Cursed World of Lore is intended for teens and adults. However, during the grand opening there were plenty of children enjoying the park late into the night and if you avoid the graveyard, you will avoid most of the spooky characters. Evermore is a fantastic spot to bring the whole family. The food is also delicious, and reasonably priced, although I would like to see more for sale in the center of the park instead of going all the way to the front. The park will also need another set or two of restrooms as it continues to expand.

Prepare to enter the new world of Evermore with your family, date, and friends for a fun escape from the ordinary. Pick up a passport as you enter so you can track your accomplishments as you venture out on quests throughout the park. This brilliant new concept brings vitality to the Utah community and stands out as a revolutionary step forward in the world of experiential theater and activities. I cannot wait to go back and explore the world of Lore again, and I am very excited to see what they come up with for Aurora this winter.
