Review by Kate Neeley, Front Row Reviewers
Pickleville On Tour is well known for delivering some incredibly fun and unique entertainment, but I think they’ve outdone themselves with I Believe in Christmas: A North Pole Musical. Writer and director TJ Davis has such a gift for creating charming, spunky, and always somehow poignant productions, and I Believe in Christmas: A North Pole Musical offers all that and more.
The story takes you from a little apartment with a darling family from Christmas to Christmas, then to the North Pole and back – you even get a glimpse of Heaven in there. Speaking of Heavenly, you’ll love the vocals, especially from the lovely Amy Baxter, the mom played by Lisa Zimmerman.
Joining her are the Baxter children played by KJ Davis, Haddie King, and Tess King, and their loving and slightly overwhelmed dad Brandon Baxter played by TJ Davis. You’ll also love his sweet sister Emily played by Summer Sloan Alvey.
The group numbers are bright and stunning visually and vocally as well. Credit goes to the artists and their dedicated training, as well as the lovely Erin Davis who put together the perfect costumes to make the zany neighbors (Jaycee Harris and Nathan Kremin), family members, and elves come to life.
Impeccable dancing is one of the absolute highlights of I Believe in Christmas: A North Pole Musical. Choreographed by the amazing Sharli King, it’s unusually delightful. You’ll think you’ve stumbled upon a few of the Rockettes who got loose from New York. Dancers are Abigail Crittenden, Abby Woolley, Morgan Horsburgh, and Dillan Wright.
As entertaining and fun as the actors are, it couldn’t be near as good without skilled people behind-the-scenes. Some standouts among these elusive sources of high talent are Alexis Lilya as Stage Manager, Spot Ops Mark Hulse and Becca Hulse.
Trusty stage crew members Maddie Lalli, Gage Reese, and Hayden Davis bring the magic that you will certainly see but may not know the source. As Christmas is all about light, top notch lighting design is the only option and Eboni Williams has got the stage and the story all lit up.
Do you hear what I hear? Well, thanks to sound designer and audio engineer Camille Chandler, you’re sure to be lifted and amazed by all the beautiful music and expertly written lines – clear as a bell.
And last but certainly not least, you’ve got Bodie Brower with all the beautiful videography, photography, and web design that has anything to do with anything.
Pickleville on Tour’s I Believe in Christmas: A North Pole Musical is sure to knock your stockings right off! Catch it in Idaho Falls and Logan over the next two weekends to make your holidays more festive and jolly.
