Pickleville Playhouse’s The Play That Goes Wrong is a riot. The creativity, the comedy, the technical elements… it’s the play within a play you’re dying to see. If you haven’t laughed enough lately (and you know you haven’t) get yourself over to Bear Lake for a top-notch collection of high-rolling hilarity. No doubt the melodramatic Murder at Haversham Manor will have you guffawing and snorting in all the right ways to soothe your angst over your own daily mishaps.

Owner and producer Andrea Davis really offers a treat for every guest at the beloved Pickleville Playhouse nestled just east of Bear Lake. It’s cozy enough to make you feel right at home in the chipper fall air, and big enough to host a crowd. The production is pure enjoyment, but you’ll also want to grab one of their homemade cookies at intermission, or a caramel apple sliced and ready to eat while you watch the show.

Included in the ridiculously talented cast are Nathan Kremin as Chris/Inspector Carter, Jordan Todd Brown as Dennis/Perkins, Jaycee Harris as Sandra/Florence, Kenzie Davis Kremin as Annie, Mateen Kane as Trevor, Ryan Sammonds as Jonathan/Charles, Slater Ashenhurst as Max/Cecil, and Taylor Hall as Robert/Thomas, all of whom literally bring down the walls at the expert lead of Director Derek Davis. These actors nail the show, but certainly take it to the next level with their characterization. You’ll laugh yourself silly over their energy and comedic abilities.

The technical elements of the set on stage are a sight to behold. Let’s be real; the set is really a part of the cast. It’s interactive and full of surprises. Produced by Daniel Simons, it adds a lot to the fun that ensues with each “disaster” the cast encounters. Wait, did I say that? Only a minor snag here and there, of course. What live production doesn’t have at least a few, am I right? Wink, wink.

And don’t forget. As hilarious and adorable as the cast is, they wouldn’t shine the same without their perfectly crafted costumes designed by Whitley Davis. And those wouldn’t get the justice they deserve without the expert lighting and sound designed by Nathan Hadley and Camille Chandler. Equally as important are the backstage support of Stage Manager Peyton Davis and his trusty crew members Alexis Lilya and Mark Hulse. The production ran without a hitch, at least not any unplanned ones.

You really don’t want to miss Pickleville Playhouse’s The Play That Goes Wrong, playing now for the next few weekends through October in Bear Lake. This show is family friendly–and hilarious!
