Pickleville on Tour has done it again. The Legend of El Diablo is so funny and so impressive you just won’t know what hit you. But you’ll walk away feeling lifted and laughed and loosened up in the best way. The Legend of El Diablo is a mash up of a crazy imaginative storyline, interspersed with improv so skillfully done that you won’t know what’s planned and what is spontaneously birthed from the womb of true comedy, which might be precisely where this show came from – i.e. T.J. Davis. If the jokes weren’t enough to warm your heart, wait till you know how this show originally came to be. T.J. reflects, “Crazy story about the show is that I wrote it the same year my dad was about to pass away” from ALS in 2010. “Laughter… helped us all deal with it that year, I think.”
Pickleville is a family company started and continued through the years by the Davis Family. Each actor who has graced the stage with them becomes family. And when you’re in the audience, you’ll feel you have become that as well. It’s one of the reasons crowds love a Pickleville Production. You’ll feel the love and wanna dance. Speaking of which, the entertainment factor is bumped up several hundred notches by the super engaging dancing choreographed by Sharli Davis King.
Included in the hilarious cast are Alec Foote, Sara Marshall White, Nathan Kremin, Ben Phillips, Whitney Hatch Glauser, and of course the writer/director/comedic mastermind himself, T.J. Davis. All incredibly versatile and entertaining as individuals, this group may be somewhat small in number, but they fill the stage, I tell you what. With what? Loads of fun, movement, engaging emotion, and totally bomb vocals. With how funny and cute everyone is, it’s somehow shocking when they bust out incredible singing on top of it all.
The set on stage is gonna grab you and pull you in as soon as you see it. Produced by Lineset Design and Fabrication, it really adds a lot to the fun that ensues with every act in the show.
Truly a collaborative effort, there’s no shortage of creativity on an exceptionally professional level. All the lights and sounds add a ton and run without a hitch; the music and stage management are some of the other behind-the-scenes bits that dish up the surrounding entertainment to make this show so engaging. Kinda like the “mom” who makes the kids look good, and sometimes don’t get the credit they deserve. So don’t forget. Credited to these important supporting parts are a production team made up of these guys: Erin Davis, Bodie Brower, Jaycee Harris, Eboni Williams, Camille Chandler, and Mark Hulse.
It’s finally Spring in Cache Valley, and it’s gonna be a short one. Just like that, it will be over. Same with Pickleville on Tour’s The Legend of El Diablo. This is certainly a limited edition opportunity. Two more performances will blossom and fade Saturday May 6 at Ellen Eccles. Don’t wait until the legend is history. Grab a friend and some tickets and put on your best laughing pants and get yourself over to Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan.
