Rabbit Hole, 2007 Pulitzer Prize recipient for Drama, is being produced by Voodoo Theatre Company at the Alliance Theater in Salt Lake City, and this is one you mustn’t miss. Dealing with grief, family dynamics, and real life, you will find yourself reaching for a hankie, and for the ones you love.

Voodoo Theatre Company strives to perform plays actors want to act in, and audiences want to see. They aim to engage and enrich our community through thought-provoking, emotional, and thrilling produced plays.

When asked what excites you about being a part of Rabbit Hole, the actors have this to say:

Nan Weber: It’s exciting to play a strong woman’s role written from my age. Exploring grief within a family group dynamic challenges my performance skill as well as my ability to bring a subject that is often avoided to “life.”

Aaron Ross: More than anything, I am excited to collaborate with (and learn from) such an intimidating group of artists. Beyond that, Rabbit Hole is an earnest engagement with grief, which, in a time of so much collective grief, may be as timely as it is timeless.

Courtney Whittier: I’m excited to play Izzy! I immediately connected with her character upon reading the script, and I can’t wait to find out what I have to learn by getting to know both her and myself a little better.

Ethan Hernandez: I’m excited to be part of Rabbit Hole because it is a very intimate story of how grief affects people in different ways and angles of the same loss. It explores how people can find reasons to blame themselves when presented with a tragic accident, looking to find reason and truth in something that seemingly makes no sense.

Ali Lente: Simply put: I love that Rabbit Hole shows us so many sides of life, from belly laughs to pools of tears, from connection to heartbreak, and, at the story’s core: grief. My personal experience with grief has shown me that it’s made even more difficult by its enigmatic nature, the way it can be difficult to truly comprehend losing someone until we experience it ourselves. I am so grateful to take part in sharing this story because I know it has the potential to move people to more vulnerability, openness, and curiosity around grief and the many ways it can express itself.

From Voodoo Theatre Company’s founder Patrick Kibbie: “Whether you’ve been with us all season or if this is your first performance with us, we want to say how pleased we are that you are here! Rabbit Hole is the second show of our inaugural season, and we couldn’t be happier to share it with you. Rabbit Hole is an incredible story of love in the face of adversity and the trials that life sometimes/always throws at us. Big or small, there is something that everyone can take away from this play, and we hope that you are as touched by the story as we are.”

From television spot on “Good Things Utah“, an ABC4 Lifestyle television program, interviewing director Morgan Lee, Ali, and Nan.

“Grief is something we all need to learn how to navigate. The Voodoo Theatre Company‘s newest show, Rabbit Hole, focuses on the family dynamic in a moment of grief. The show is full of spirit and love, this family tries to maneuver their way through their grief and around each other as best they can. Director of the show, Morgan Lee came to the studio to give some insights alongside two of the show’s actors, Ali Lente, who portrays ‘Becca’ and Nan Weber who portrays ‘Nat’.

“While the show is focused on grief, it is not at all sad. The show is centered around the family dynamics and how to handle grief. This show is a great family activity, but viewer discretion is advised. Adult themes and materials are present and may not be appropriate for children under the age of 14.”
