After years of pandemic shutdowns, The Lower Lights are back, ready to share their own special bluegrass/folk sound in their annual Christmas Concert. Playing at Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Lower Lights perform hymns and songs of the season, and give them a twist and a twang that everyone in the hall will love.
The Lower Lights is a collaboration of folks who are pickin’ and strummin’ through familiar Christian hymns, Christmas hymns and songs, and are all out fabulous. Their fans, of which there are many, love their special twist on songs that make us love them all the more–the songs and the band.
The Lower Lights had planned a concert for last year, but canceled as Covid still was a threat. How grateful we are that they have been able to play again and help us celebrate the wonderful Christmas season. And we want to give them particular support for their caring for the community last year. We missed them but appreciate their dedication to the health of their fans.
This year in addition to their regular hymns, the show included a beautiful rendition of John Lennon’s “So This is Christmas” and a new song “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem”. They also shared “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, a special tribute to original member and drummer Pat Campbell who passed away in October 2020.
The classics “When the Roll is Called up Yonder” and “This Little Light of Mine” had the audience clapping and dancing in the aisles and “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” is a fun surprise.
Be prepared to clap, stomp, and sing all the way through this amazing Christmas concert.
