Snow White, a classic fairytale written by the Brothers Grimm, has been brought to life in an enchanting new way by Ballet West II at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City. The story unfolds as the Brothers Grimm, played by Vinicius Lima and Beau Chesivoir, bring to life each scene and character with humor and magic that keeps the audience enthralled as they relive the familiar tale.
Claire Wilson, the ballerina playing Snow White, is stunning to watch and truly feels like a princess brought from the pages of a storybook as she dances with her woodland friends, wins the hearts of the seven dwarves, and entrances the Prince (Noel Jensen). The Wilson’s true charm is how well she is able to create her character through her dancing and truly makes the story her own. Not to be outshined, however, is the Vain Queen, played by Nicole Fannéy. Fannéy paints the image of a beautiful but wicked step-mother as she gracefully concocts and executes her vile plans to reclaim her place as the “fairest one of all”. Other notable performances include that of Robert Fowler as the King, Brigitte Edwards as the Good Queen, and Connor Hammond, Isabella Corridon, and Ginabel Peterson as the Queen’s Mirror.
The showstoppers of the night certainly were the extraordinarily talented children as the animals, dwarves, and leaves of the forest. Despite their young age, these dancers show amazing maturity in their performance and don’t fail to entertain.
