Now playing in Midvale, Utah at the Midvale Main Street Theatre is the Regional Premiere of the hilarious Disenchanted the Musical. Have you ever wondered what happens after the Happily Ever After? Do they really have it as great as it seems, or do they feel like they’re being misrepresented? Now’s your chance to hear from the Disney princesses themselves on how they truly feel their stories were presented. Join Cinderella (Cassidy Ross), Sleeping Beauty (Alex Zinov), and Snow White (Micki Conner) on this quirky musical revue on how they, and their princess friends feel they’ve been represented.
Directed by Tammy Ross, music directed by Alec Powell, and Choreographed by Brynnly Bosworth, you are sure to enjoy yourself through this PG-13 romp of after Disney magic. Join Belle (Carleigh Naylor), Hua Mulan (Darsity Robles), The Little Mermaid (Taylor Heaps), Pocahontas (Sara Goldberg), Rapunzel (Taylor Twitchell), The Princess Who Kissed The Frog (Noelani Brown), and Princess Badroulbadour (Pamela Jensik) as they all express their feelings and displeasures of how men represent them. From physical appearances to societal expectations placed on women, these princesses are ready to tell all.
Ross as Cinderella, Zinov as Sleeping Beauty, and Conner as Snow White are show stoppers in how they command the stage, and really nail their comedic timing. Ross definitely has the upper hand when it comes to comedy. She doesn’t miss a beat and the audience was in stitches throughout the entire show. Goldberg as Pocahontas and Robles as Hua Mulan are the highlights of the Disney princesses in both character and performance. Goldberg really packs a punch with her portrayal of the culturally appropriated Pocahontas in delivering a beautiful number, while Mulan provides a delicate, comedic, and touching reflection on her identity. I must not forget to mention Twitchell’s amazing, hilarious, and unforgettable performance as Rapunzel. Won’t ruin the surprise for anyone, though.
Each princess has an amazing identity all their own; the characters are believable and delightful. The voices are highlighted using the live onstage band, and happily (ever after—ha!) there are no sound issues whatsoever. The balance of vocals and live music in such a small space is amazing.

The stage has a sexy Cabaret/Disney vibe to it, complementing the more adult tone the show has. With Disenchanted, sip on a Poison Apple, a Glass Slipper, The Handsome Prince, or even a drink for Sleeping Beauty, brilliantly named after Ambien. Jan Harris and T Ross and are responsible for the royal attire, and it is great.
This show will appeal to a large crowd. The cast fits the demands of the script, most importantly in the character work. Being such a character driven show, I felt that I was watching each Disney princess brought to life. And don’t pass up the live music that is enthusiastically and expertly played for this show. It adds a great element. If you want to have a good time, do not pass up Disenchanted at Midvale Main Street Theatre.
